parkHIIT @ Work

parkHIIT’s vision is to advance physical, mental and social wellbeing for people of all ages and backgrounds by promoting the importance of, and facilitating individuals to participate in, resistance exercise in community based public spaces.

parkHIIT is a volunteer led social enterprise and all our outdoor weekend sessions are completely free for attendees and always will be. Due to restrictions, our outdoor gatherings were put on hold so we quickly pivoted online in order to keep our growing community engaged and to provide that weekly dose of much needed motivation at the weekend. A big shout out to our volunteer coaches who adjusted to the online world really smoothly and continue to deliver fun and challenging workouts for online parkHIITers every single weekend (if you’d like to get involved with our free weekend workouts, you can sign up here).

How Can Your Organisation Get Involved?

Due to demand and thanks to our success and experience online, we are now offering midweek workouts for organisations that want to support the physical wellbeing of their colleagues no matter where they are based.

This is a really important step for parkHIIT as we recently registered as a Company Limited by Guarantee. In other words, parkHIIT is now formally a Not-For-Profit organisation with a board in place to oversee all our activities. The weekend workouts are all about community and are free for attendees, that will never change. While parkHIIT is a not for profit organisation, it’s important that it can generate revenue to support its vision to scale to every county and community in Ireland (and hopefully beyond). With that in mind, revenue generating activities are necessary for parkHIIT to demonstrate to the board and to potential funders and investors that parkHIIT is capable of this growth.

parkHIIT @ Work is the first step in this process.

parkHIIT @ Work

parkHIIT @ Work is an online resistance training interval workout suitable for a mix of fitness levels. We create a circuit of exercises at each session to give you a full body workout using only your own bodyweight as resistance. We can work with you to choose a time and a day each week that works best for your colleagues.

Session Structure:

- 5/10 minute warm up

- 20/25 minutes of (reasonably) high intensity exercise.

- 5/10 minute mindful warm down.

You're only up against one person at parkHIIT and that's yourself. You push yourself as hard as you can/want!

What You’ll Need:

- An exercise mat and / or a suitable workout area

- Comfortable workout clothing

- A bottle of water

- Your own bodyweight

- A ‘can do’ attitude!

Up to 100 people can join each session. The price is €100 per session and a block of 8 workouts is €700. We can record the workouts and share the recording plus a breakdown of the exercises with you afterwards. As an added extra, your colleagues can join our free online workout each Sunday morning if they wish to also.

We split the revenue we receive with the coach that leads the workouts for you. Your qualified parkHIIT instructor also volunteers their time for free at the weekends to lead parkHIIT sessions in their local park or online. By splitting the parkHIIT @ Work revenue with the instructor, it’s a nice way to thank them for their volunteer work at the weekend while at the same time generating revenue for parkHIIT.

Why Should I Care About Resistance Exercise?

For starters, the WHO states that ‘Muscle-strengthening activities should be done involving major muscle groups on 2 or more days a week.’

Lean muscle mass sadly diminishes with age for everyone. If you don't do anything to replace the lean muscle you lose you'll increase the percentage of fat in your body over time. Resistance training can help preserve and enhance muscle mass at any age.

It can also help you with the following:

Weight Management: Resistance exercise can help you to manage or lose weight and it can increase your metabolism to help burn more calories

Stronger Bones: By stressing your bones, resistance exercise can increase bone density and reduce the risk of osteoporosis

Chronic Conditions: Resistance exercise can reduce the impact of chronic conditions such as heart disease, back pain, arthritis, diabetes, obesity and depression

Enhance Quality of Life: Resistance training can improve your ability to do everyday activities. It can lead to better flexibility, mobility and balance, which can help you remain independent as you age

Resistance is Worthwhile

As you can see from the above, resistance exercise really is worthwhile. If you’re an individual then sign up to our newsletter to find out about our free weekly workouts and if you’d like to get your team involved in parkHIIT @ Work then simply drop me a line: brian@parkhiit.com
